Branding

Look like one company.

Most small businesses look like three. A logo on the truck, a different one on Facebook, a website that matches neither.

None of that is carelessness. It is five years of doing whatever was quickest, by whoever was free. We set one standard and hold everything to it.

One painting company shown across Instagram, YouTube, Google,
a website, TikTok, a uniform and a paint tin — the same mark,
the same red, the same line on every one

An example, not a client. Same mark, same red, same line — on every surface somebody might meet you.

What it actually is

A brand is not a logo.

It is whether somebody recognizes you the second time.

A man sees your van on Tuesday. On Friday your name comes up in a search. If those two things look like the same company, he has now seen you twice. If they do not, he has seen two strangers once each.

That is the whole of it. Everything else — the colors, the type, the shirts — is just how you make that happen.

The hard part

Branding is held, not launched.

Anybody can pick colors on a Tuesday. The work is still using them in March.

A business that redoes its look every year never gets remembered, because recognition needs repetition. We would rather take something ordinary and hold it for five years than give you something clever you get bored of.

So we write it down. What the colors are, which type is used where, how the logo sits on a dark background. Then everyone works from the same page — us, your printer, whoever wraps the truck.

How it should feel

It should look like the work.

Honest, not fancy. A brand that looks more expensive than the business sets people up to be disappointed.

Your customers are not looking for a design award. They are looking for somebody who will turn up, do it right, and not vanish. Everything we make is aimed at that one impression.

What we hold to it

Everywhere somebody might meet you.

Built once, then kept the same. If it carries your name, it gets checked against the standard.

  • Your website
  • Your Google Business Profile
  • Instagram, Facebook and TikTok
  • Email on your own name, not a free address
  • Business cards and print
  • Shirts, hats and signage
  • Quotes, invoices and forms
  • Photographs, shot to match
